Sometimes it seems drives get corrupted. Repro steps ;

  • Create - Windows NTFS
  • Activate drive
  • Copy files to drive
  • Safely eject Drive
  • Insert stick in other Pc
  • Drives is shown in Explorer
  • Click on drive
  • Results in error : Location is not available. E:\is not accessible. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.

C:\Users\tonyk>chkdsk E:
The type of the file system is NTFS.
Volume label is Drive2.

WARNING! /F parameter not specified.
Running CHKDSK in read-only mode.
