After combing through multiple posts on reddit, and the qubes.os forum, it seems like the functionality your script can provide would be highly valuable for the qubes community. Preferably this script would be installed in a disposable template that users would swap for the default-dvm, however this may need to be installed directly on dom0. Here is the output of sudo ./displaylink-debian.sh --debug (running in a disposable sys-usb after installing wget & pciutils):
