Cool ideas?

All the information we need to generate an always up to date and matching the users distro description and icon is already available via the appstream cache that gets updated with apt update on all installs.

Software centers like gnome software, gnome packagekit, and kde discover all use this distro agnostic format for storing package metadata for use in their graphical software centers.
