Whenever I boot into Windows 10, MS Edge will start itself and run in the background. I have to open Task Manager and end several instances of it running. It slows down my old laptop and I do not need or want it running at all. I have tried uninstalling Edge using Winutil but it does not uninstall. If it cannot be uninstalled could it be stopped from running itself?
When defragging the hard disk, one of the files that always appears and cannot be defragged is user-not-present-trace* files present in C:\Windows\System32\SleepStudy
In that folder are a lot of trace files that seem to be logging when it thinks I am not present at the computer. I find this behaviour unnecessary and creepy and it wastes my CPU and disk space resources on something I do not need. Can the SleepStudy be turned off?
Describe the solution you'd like
Options under Tweaks to turn off SleepStudy and to stop MS Edge from starting itself and running in the background.
Describe alternatives you've considered
Uninstalling Edge - have not found a way to do it. I use Linux instead of Windows whenever possible.
Additional context
I am running Windows 10 22H2 Pro
