I think that the Markdown editor used on the "New Idea" page should be switched to http://code.google.com/p/pagedown/ (the editor used on Stack Overflow and many other websites). PageDown is very pleasant to use, and one key difference that would make this switch worthwhile is that the Markdown preview is updated automatically and displayed right below your editor.
Would this simple change be worthwhile? If so, I'll make a pull request.

We're using Showdown.js to do the rendering so this is certainly something to consider. I went with the github-style editor because that was the simplest thing that could work.
I'm happy to run with this if it fits with the existing theme and makes users' lives easier.
