This isn't a technical issue.

As Github replaced the main branch names of newly created repositories with main , master is now considered inappropriate in that it (implicitly) refers to slavery unnecessarily. (see https://www.zdnet.com/article/github-to-replace-master-with-main-starting-next-month/)

Github published the guidance last year. Renaming the main branch can be done from the web in a few steps: Settings -> Branches -> Default branch -> rename.

Caveats: Renaming might affect CI.
