Julie Lowndes

Hi, I'm Julie or Julia or Jules. I am a Mozilla Fellow and marine scientist at the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis (NCEAS) at the University of California Santa Barbara in the USA. I am developing Openscapes to increase the value of open practices in environmental science, so we can find solutions to environmental problems more efficiently and collaboratively.

Hi Julie,
I just learned of this initiative through Marcus Beck, a fellow OSS 2017 participant I've been collaborating with on projects. I was able to catch your NCEAS webinar on Nov. 7th through a link he provided, and I'm very interested in seeing how this concept develops.

I'm trying to build capacity and momentum in my program and our regional partnerships for the application of open data/science tools, e.g. see a recent RFP. I think the Openscapes initiative is something the 28 National Estuary Programs would also be interested in embracing/promoting. So, I would love to follow your progress or help/contribute at your discretion.

Best,
Ed Sherwood
Tampa Bay Estuary Program
