Modern web applications often require json representation of content (REST), it would have been nice with some default builtin support for this. I've got time but lack to much knowledge about SubstanceD at the moment, with some mentoring or guidelines I'm willing to put down an effort atleast.

This sounds like it should be an add-on package that supplies show and edit views registered for e.g. context=Interface that try to introspect the object's properties.
