Since the introduction of progress tags to achievements ive been thinking about possible applications of this feature.
I am however unaware if it will be easy to implement.
Tiered badges suggestion:
This suggestion of mine would affect the way badges are earned and would alter a lot of masteries and subsetsif implemented (old subsets could still be there and unchanged but new sets may be affected)
The tiered badges would require all achievements to be tagged as follows:
progress + beaten tags
core
subsets A-Z
Beating achievements with the "progress + beaten tag" would result in a basic badge
Then beating all core tagged cheevos would "upgrade" the badge (new badge or changed border color) and subsequently getting all cheevos tagged under a subset (be it subest A or B) would continually upgrade the badge you get.
An example: take pokemon emerald.
Beating the gyms and the 4 would be "progress + beaten" and would provide the basic badge (say a pokeball with rayquaza in it)
Then beating a few easy challenges (like level limits or team limits) would upgrade the badge (say a great ball with a rayquaza and/or adding a bronze border around it).
Then completeing say a proffessor oak challenge tagged subset would further upgrade it to say an ultraball with rayquaza and/or a silver border around it.
And then ofcourse shiny hunting subset will more than likely be the last subset completed making a maxed out badge be something like a masterball with a shiny rayquaza
And it could be as follows:
Progress cheevos = base badge
Progress +core = upgrade 1 of badge
Progress + core + subset =upgrade by how many subsets completed
This method would allow those who just want the badge to get it. But those who go the extra mile get a better badge showing how far they've gone.
Average completion suggestion:
I believe personally that since the introduction of progreession tags to cheevos, the average completion progress percentage should only count them to 100%. And any cheevos gotten beyond that would allow the average completion to score above that to show trully how above and beyond such a player went.
Thank you for reading, and I hope you liked my ideas
