We should implement a firewall rule on the GAE so that only the designated HL7 source can write to us. I will also implement this in the server itself but it's much better to do it at the firewall level.

Related question: when the waveform-reader is behind docker networking, what IP address does it see when you connect to the GAE from outside the GAE? Test this using the DSD.
It needs to be able to see the real IP address in order to perform filtering (as would nginx or any other solution we go for that has to sit behind docker)
