readLength as INTEGER instead of STRING #534

Since there are no enumerated values for readLength, can we restrict values by specifying required type is integer instead of string? Arguments for or against :)

I believe the reason it has been listed as a string is because sometimes it's given as a range. If that's no longer a use case I'm fine with changing the type.
