Channel bars glitch out, flash and overall do not work as expected

above is a video of this issue in action - you can see the 'channel bars', or little bars next to the channel name, frequently flash, do not show when they are supposed to or are misshaped or inconsistently shaped; making for an unpleasant viewing experience

expected behaviour is just that the bars show for the channel you are on, channel you are hovering over, and are fully intact and do not glitch out

how to reproduce:

• click on a channel
• click on another channel
• repeat until bars are misshaped or don't show when required
