You can't see how an object would look like on a tile until you actually place it down. Imagining how it would look like on the tile from the prefab image or similar isn't really optimal.
Sugest a solution
I suggest something like a (preferably transparent) preview for how an object would look like on a tile that you're hovering over. If this does get implemented, I recommend making the white tile highlight more transparent for better visibility.
Here's a mockup I edited in of the aforementioned preview (this is just to get an idea of what I mean, not how it should be exactly done):
SS14 does something similar to what i'm suggesting and in my opinion does it perfectly:
