unfortunatly I have to go, but theirs is lots of documentation on the website

Hello, are the gradient_segments also hand-manufactured? Or are they true to reality?

Good question. They are pretty close to reality I think. They are from the CycleStreets.net routing service.

Heads-up @mncosta they were generated by reproducible code in the code folder (code/generate-routes.R) using the cyclestreets R package that is an interface to the CycleStreet web API. Watch out though, some (very high gradients on short sections) may not be reliable. See here for details: https://github.com/Robinlovelace/cyclestreets/issues/14#
