The Drupal contribution system is interesting. I think it would solve many issues for contributors that are self-sponsored, like not being picked up by a sponsor because their profile already says that contributor is sponsored without clarification by whom. |

Organizations, such as my employer, GoDaddy, sponsor non-staff members contributing to WordPress. We do this because we know the importance of contributing. We hold no obligation for the recipient to acknowledge our sponsorship, as in some cases, they wish to keep the details private. Additionally, these folks may receive partial funding from multiple backers.
How do we handle this when organizations supporting Five for the Future are compared? This does matter in some areas, such as https://wordpress.org/hosting.
