I've seen them appear for a brief fraction of a second, but more or less, outside of icons, no images display anywhere in the program at all. Not for the ones I already have [after downloading assets from ftp], not for the ones it downloads

[Also, why not download from all sources instead of having to choose 1?]

Are you running things in Windows? if so - do you have DirectX 9 installed and a fully up-to-date .NET Framework install?

The reason for downloading only from one source is for simplicity - how often do you need to download from multiple sources? each of them work differently which makes it a tad more complicated to fetch from multiple sources and merge the results.

If you could share a example of when things aren't showing properly after you've made sure your .NET Framework is up-to-date and DirectX 9 is installed properly that'd be very helpful in tracking down the issue.

I did finally get an image to view when I selected one i saved manually.
But when it downloads them from my xbox's ftp, for example, none show.
I've downloaded some from the net that found 16 screenshot -- selecting any of the 16 shows nothing.
Almost nothing shows anything except when i select one manually for my harddrive.
None show for any of the existing games too, even though they are in the dashboard.

The UI is super hard to understand, quite frankly, so it's certainly possible i could be doing something wrong.

It's not more simple for me as a user to download from one source because the whole reason multiple sources exist is because one source doesn't have everything. So for every single one, I have to download, look at the results, switch sources, and repeat it. It's quite maddening actually. If multiple results are found, we should be able to pick the one we like.

What if i get an image successfully, but it turns out the other source had it in better quality? I'd never even know.

Ok, since you got something to show, that means things are in general working. i'll see if we can improve something around this tho, the project is quite old by now tho.

oh if it's not being maintained it is what it is i guess. i really wanted something that would search on google too, not just the official sources. i'm mostly just looking for Indie game covers tbh. The xbox360 releases and xboxLiveArcade releases all have covers. The india ones are pretty obscure downloads from archive.org

While it might sound easy to just "google it", it's not that simple when it comes to the technical side of things - it's fairly easy for you as a user to use google to search for images, but it's not quite as simple for us to do that using code and showing the results.

For images you can't find anything on Xbox.com (which is probably going to stop working soon if it hasn't already) or Xboxunity.net - your only options is to search around yourself on other sources or make your own custom covers unfortunately.

I have been curious what's going to change in June when they finally shut down. I'm trying to get all my udpates in just in case, have been watching youtube videos reviewing obscure indie games to try to figure out which ones i want to grab, in case they don't work without an update that i might not be able to get in 2 months. Ugh. Would be nice if someone emulated it the way people are currently emulating PS2-live network nowadays. [but those people have to use a custom dns server to resolve the sony domain names to the new not-run-by-sony servers]

There are efforts being done by the community to try and get replacements up 'n' running, but it's not a easy task to do. Things are much more complicated with the 360 than they were with the PS2.

Unfortunately, i don't have the time/energy to go through all of the data i've archived myself, nor have i gotten around to getting a offline copy of cover packs yet, eventually we'll get around to it and setup something better. there is a link to one of those either in one of the issues/discussions here or on RMS.

I just got my xbox last week, so I'm very much late to the game and super-impressed with the layers (official / arcade / indie) of releases in the ecosystem. I had no idea it was so rich! Thanks for putting this tool out there. Even with my frustrations, it the difference between me getting these covers and not! W000

We have submitted 3,492 custom indie covers to stelio to upload to unity. Awhile back. But stelio been busy. There is 200 plus indie titles missing because the assets are not there to make said covers. Either MS or the developer never made them or got removed.
