Hey name is Mitchell and I am a BIG soccer fan. I've always dreamed of building my own Soccer Maagement Simulator (like Top Eleven and the likes) but I don't really know where to start. How did you learn to create such a system? Do you mind sharing any resources you used to get to this point? Amazing work!

Hi, Mitchell. Thank you for comment. Regarding resources, I don't have any to recommend that are specific to creating soccer match simulators, as this project is kind of original work. There are some related projects and resources, but I haven't done any actual research, because I wanted to follow my own approach. Nevertheless, I am following the soccer analytics field for ideas, inspiration, and knowledge. I would suggest to take a look at the Friends of Tracking youtube channel as a starting point: FoT. Not specific to soccer simulation, but there are quite a few interesting presentations in there (and a course), which have definitely given me some insights.

In general, there are many different approaches one can take, so there are different ways to start. At this point, I reached a conclusion on how to implement this project, and as soon as I have finished with a prototype, I will write an update of how it has evolved (comparing it also with the original project 'openfootie') and where it could go next. A short article or even paper on the different approaches (actual or theoretical) of creating a soccer management simulation would also be interesting, but that would be more of a research work. I would be curious to see other similar projects, after I reached a certain level with my own project and have a more concrete and less experimental implementation.

I hope this helps for now. I will be open for any discussions and questions, now and in the future.
