I have downloaded the repo, and set producer as the starter project, but I've got this error:

An unhandled exception of type 'System.TypeInitializationException' occurred in mscorlib.dll

Additional information: The type initializer for 'Amazon.Kinesis.ClientLibrary.SampleProducer.SampleRecordProducer' threw an exception.

Any idea? I have visual studio 2015

I am having this same issue. Was there ever a solution provided?

Reboot the machine was the answer for me.

During the reboot I saw several cmd processes flash by and it was likely an incomplete installation of the AWS SDK.

Same issue. Reboot didn't fixed.
