Energy relationship and remainder representation

I saw related threads but nothing quite in the right direction.

Hello @bramstroker,
I was thinking about this for some time and believe that if anyone has an opinion on this, it must be you :)

In Home Assistant we represent individual power/energy readings. I am not aware of any concepts to

1. Logically describe "part-of" or "contains" relationships
2. Derive the remainder for such a relationship

These two shortcomings are nicely solved in the sankey-card but imho need a solution in the HA entities domain. The definition of such a hierarchy (likely via attributes) would offer convenient dashboarding options and could help users to understand and optimize their energy utilization.

Do you have an opinion on the topic? Are you aware of any ongoing discussions re core or is this something you could imagine as an extension to your work?

Hi, you can just use powercalc groups to divide all your individual power/energy entities in logical groups.
Than you can also use sub groups / nested groups.
So you could also create a group measured power.

For example

• Measured power
  • Lights
    • Living room
  • Kitchen appliances

etc. etc.

Next create a template sensor called unmeasured power substracting the measured power from the mains (P1) power.
