Doesn't the process currently request the elements to be released from
Facebook?
I would say that if the user either clicks "do not release" or there is no
email registered in FB then the "registration" should fail at that point
with an appropriate friendly error?

Yes it does. But if the facebook account has no email address, and we generate UUID from the email address, then we can only use the anonymous UUID for this account.

You said in https://basecamp.com/2255772/projects/2799929/messages/41654380 that we should say that the user must provide an email address at their social ID provider to get additional access. I'm still not sure whether that means:

  1. We pop up a window, say they need to provide an email address to facebook, and then not allow a login.
  2. We pop up a window, say they need to provide an email address to facebook, warn that they'll be using an anonymous UUID, and then continue the login flow.
