The NL Net foundation has agreed to fund work on the icalendar project as well as other libraries (recurring-ical-events, x-wr-timezone) and the open-web-calendar. You can read more here:

I think a strong focus for me is to use this time to work on icalendar, too as there are issues like these:

• Making icalendar.from_ical independent of pytz and usable with all timezone implementations #532
• [BUG] Incorrect handling of complex recurring events (e.g., in calendars imported from Google Calendar) #593

Of cause, all issues are important just the question is which issues are too big to handle on a free-time base: Please list them here, so I can have a look.
At the moment of writing this, a plan needs to be made about what to put the work into and so, I would also ask you: Where do you think we should go with this, how and especially what needs doing that is a big job! Also, who would be willing to work on icalendar in that time and on which issues?
