make install broken in chroots

Git commit a7967b6

$ make install PREFIX=/usr DESTDIR="/tmp/packaging_dir/"
install: creating directory '/build/fluxengine-git/pkg/fluxengine-git//usr'
install: creating directory '/build/fluxengine-git/pkg/fluxengine-git//usr/bin'
install: cannot stat '.obj//src+fluxengine/src+fluxengine': No such file or directory

Interestingly, this only happens when building a chroot (as is normally done on Arch). If I build it outside the chroot it works fine. Not sure what is going on here, as this has worked just fine with older versions.
