unable to download crouton integration extension

Please describe your issue:

crouton integration extension says chrome needs an update however no update is pending or found when checking this

solved the issue, downloaded the extension from a 3rd party site - I know this is not recommended as its easy to inject malware - i used this site ( https://www.crx4chrome.com/crx/97386/ ) and then unpackaged the crz file using 7zip, moved it over to my chromebook and used the extension manager to unpack the file.
