Bookmarks not persisted

Better Bookmarks claims to persist bookmarks - but after a restart of ST all bookmarks are lost.

• How to make better bookmarks reliably persist bookmarks?

OK, because this is so annoying I just made a little series of testing and tried to find out why bookmarks are not persistent - I really want this feature to work.
Turns out that disappearing of bookmarks seems to have to do something with switching to a different project - there is still some randomness here and I do not fully understand what goes on, but project switching seems to be involved.
