Adding an Optional Search Engine

I'm thinking about a enhancement for the Matrix server – adding the option to integrate an external search engine like Elasticsearch or similar tools. This isn't about replacing PostgreSQL, which does its job well under many circumstances, but about giving admins more control and flexibility in larger setups.
