[Feature request] Axis X assignable to buttons instead of axis

Hi,
I've got a arcade cab using old usb gamepad and sadly, plenty of xbox games are only looking for the left joystick, not d-pad.
Would it be possible to have to possibility to assign D-pad button to the axis ? Like Up/Down/Left/Right ?

That's sooo frustrating otherwise
