How to specify the password required while cloning a remote git repository

I'm trying to download a NeoVim plugin from a remote git repository. The problem here is that I can't type-in the password required while cloning that repository and I get the following error when the cloning fails:

Permission denied (publickey,gssapi-with-mic,keyboard-interactive).
        fatal: Could not read from remote repository.

When I try to clone it via git cli, I get prompted to type in the password and I can go ahead with the clone without any errors. Is there a way around this.
I tried cloning the repository to the location where Lazy is trying to install it (~/.local/share/nvim/lazy/repoName) but it still is trying to clone it.

The plugin's repository is not hosted on GitHub and is an internal repository which I can only clone via ssh.

Found that local plugins can be used when specified using the dir key.
