Command to invert selection

In any situation where checkboxes are available to select multiple items, a command to invert the selection would be useful. The particular use case where I would have liked to have it is: searching for a particular phrase, then annotating some occurrences of that phrase, selected individually on the basis of context, with one tag, then annotating all or most others with a different tag.
