hmm, I'm still not entirely sure I understand what exactly the target here? I don't think it's possible not to re-render things as inline sidebar built into the page.

how about this: It should appear as if the inline sidebar stays open when navigating the web. There may still be some unavoidable flickering caused by the complete re-rendering of the whole document, but animations should not be executed.

confusion resolved: if you have "reduce motion" enabled on your system - the animation won't show-up, so I wasn't seeing it since migration to a new inline-sidebar implementation
