Recursive patterns

I try to convert the following type definition into patterns:

type ActivityChoices = {
  value: string
  deprecated?: boolean
  units?: ActivityChoices[]
}

type ActivityOptions = {
  name: string
  description: string
  context: ActivityChoices
}

As you can see, this results in a recursive type and the usual way of defining pattern objects would be failing with a "Block-scoped variable used before its declaration."

Is there a way to do this, or do I need to resort to P.any here?
