In viewing a CODEX dataset in Vitessce, the user observes that abundance of antigen X is high in a particular cell type within the given sample. The user wants to find out if this also the case in other samples of the same tissue. Or if it is also the case in other tissues?
The user would launch such queries directly out of Vitessce by selecting the corresponding cell type and antigen to obtain a list of other datasets with the same cell type and antigen that can be viewed immediately.
Without direct visualization support, the user would have to launch a query by selecting cell type and antigen into a separate search UI and additionally would have to provide any contextual information that would already have been available in Vitessce, such as the tissue type.
User Needs/Wants:
Ability to launch advanced query directly from Vitessce
Advanced query will have preconditions from current dataset already set (e.g. antigen, corresponding cell type, tissue type)
User will have ability to select/unselect the preconditions from that dataset (e.g. ability to unselect tissue type to view all types of tissue results)
Query will deliver output of list of datasets with user-set conditions from current dataset
