GTK apps like gedit or nautilus are not using libawaita

Hi,

I have an issue with using libadwaita on Hyprland.

When I start gedit for example it's not using the libadwaita theme. It looks like a kind of standard gtk theme.
When I switch to Gnome (parallel installed) gedit is using libadwaita.

Has anyone an idea what the reason is?

Do you have any other themes installed or did you set an override somewhere?

Perhaps this will reset the theme:

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface gtk-theme 'Adwaita' && gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface color-scheme 'default'

or prefer-dark for the dark variant

 gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface color-scheme 'prefer-dark'

Was able to fix it. Had an outdated environment variable in the hyprland.conf that has overwritten libadwaita. Thanks for helping me.

Could you please share your Environment variables? I just installed Hyprland a couple of days ago and Nautilus has the light theme. My eyes are burning.

Hi. The dark theme can be activated by installing xdg-desktop-portal-gtk. But this can generate negative side effects on waybar if you’re using it.

For me I set the commands with gsettings as above

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface gtk-theme 'Adwaita'
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface color-scheme 'default'
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface color-scheme 'prefer-dark'

Remove any GTK theme settings in hyprland.conf
env = GTK_THEME, adw-gtk3-dark

Deleted
~/.config/gtk*
~/.gtkrc-2.0

Restart hyprland and it was fixed. I have no idea exactly which part of these fixed the problem, I guess if you have gtk2/3 apps you can add back theming and if it breaks again you will know what did it.
