First Time Moose Install Compilation Error

I'm trying to install moose on MacOS and when i ran make I got the following error:

Delete the apple xcode command line tools brute force first!

rm -rf `xcode-select -p`

Install version 11.5 of the apple command line tools from https://developer.apple.com/download/more/

I keep getting permission denied notifications when i delete Xcode with brute force. Any ideas why this is happening? Thank you for the guidance, it's much appreciated.

Also I'm trying to install the "Command Line Tools for Xcode 11.5" correct?

This is a permissions issue, since you are trying to modify system files. You need to modify the above command to the following:

sudo rm -rf `xcode-select -p`

MacOS will ask for your password in order to temporarily elevate your permissions, and then you should be able to remove it.

"Command Line Tools for Xcode 11.5" is correct.

last question, I'm getting the same permission denied error when I try to install the new Xcode. How do I override?

After opening the DMG file you get from Apple (it'll load a virtual drive on your desktop that you also open), then you can click on the PKG installer, where MacOS will ask (in graphical form, not on the Terminal) for your permission to install and a password to elevate your permissions. Can you elaborate on how you are installing and what you are seeing?

MOOSE and our conda package have now been updated to allow for newer versions of XCode and Command Line Tools. If this issue is experienced by others, the answer is now to update MOOSE (https://mooseframework.inl.gov/getting_started/installation/index.html#update) and the conda package to the newest version (activate your moose environment, then conda update --all).
