help with compiling libmesh with boost

Hi all,

I am trying to compile the libMesh on hpc with an external boost, but I ran into some issues.

Basically, I have downloaded a boost (that is newer than the one in libMesh contrib), and the version.hpp is located at:
/hpc/group/dolbowlab/boost_1_75_0/boost/version.hpp.

However, when I try to compile libMesh using ./scripts/update_and_rebuild_libmesh.sh --with-boost=/hpc/group/dolbowlab/boost_1_75_0 it says that it cannot find an external boost therefore falling back to the internal boost:

checking for boostlib >= 1.57.0... configure: We could not detect the boost libraries (version 1.57 or higher). If you have a staged boost library (still not installed) please specify $BOOST_ROOT in your environment and do not give a PATH to --with-boost option.  If you are sure you have boost installed, then check your version number looking in <boost/version.hpp>. See http://randspringer.de/boost for more documentation.

What am I missing here?

According to @roystgnr there doesn't seem to be an easy fix for this. I ended up manually including boost in my Makefile.
