Black screen on reopening app installed with yarn android

I'm not sure if this counts as an actual issue, and I'm not even sure where to begin trying to look for the cause, so I'm dropping this in discussions for now.

I've created a new project using ignite-cli to quickly scaffold a demo on Android. When I first run the app using yarn android, and subsequently run the app with my device connected and Metro running, the app works fine. However, when I disconnect my device or turn Metro off, then swipe the app off my recent apps list, and try to run it again, I get a blank screen.
