More options for footnote number syntax

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
One of the aims of Reading mode, as well as Live Preview to an extent, is to hide much or all of the syntax when not actively editing text. But I would suggest this is not yet quite the case with footnotes – the footnote numbers in reading mode come with squared brackets that seemingly cannot be adjusted or removed. While that syntax is common, it is supplementary, and the footnote numbering would still be clear without such syntax.

Describe the solution you'd like
Perhaps some options in Style Settings plugin to adjust this in Minimal? Or simply a CSS snippet to tweak if it's possible!
