Mask image filter appears to not be working properly

The example code is on this page HTML5 Canvas Mask Image Filter Tutorial

As I slide the slider, nothing is happening to the image. Once I slide all the way up to 300, the image suddenly becomes masked. But any integer below 300 seems to have no effect on the image. I tried this in Firefox and Chrome and I'm getting the same effect.

Is this how the mask filter is intended to behave? It looks like a bug to me.

That looks like a bug to me. I am not really sure that Mask filter is working correctly. It will be good if someone can review it.

Huh! It's still broken for me in both Firefox and Chrome. I'm not sure how you've gotten that to work.

Perhaps it was fixed for a short period of time and is now not working again?
