Notebooks for PySAL

This repository hosts several IPython Notebooks that have been used in workshops and other educational contexts to teach scientific Python and, in particular, PySAL. Here is the relation of all of them:

  • intro_scicomp_python.ipynb (link to viewer): brief introduction to the main libraries for scientific computing in Python (ipython, numpy, scipy, pandas, matplotlib).
  • PySAL_io.ipynb (link): read and write shapefiles, dbf files and other formats.
  • PySAL_weights.ipynb (link): understand, create and manipulate spatial weights objects.
  • PySAL_esda.ipynb (link): overview of Exploratory Spatial Data Analysis (ESDA) techniques.
  • PySAL_modules.ipynb (link): short overview of functionality and APIs of more specific modules.
