In over 35 countries around the world, one or more national RISM working groups participate in this global project. They are organisationally and financially independent. The working groups are usually based at the country's respective national library, at a musicological institute, or operate as an autonomous enterprise. They all have in common one overall goal: to gather information about the sources in each country and make it available both nationally and internationally.
