Describe your wanted feature

I wrote a source provider for my local paper collecting company. At the end of the year they are killing the old data and creating new data for the next year. This leads to no data for q4 of the current year.

I am thinking about a feature that keeps the current data for a calendar year if the service request is not getting any data back.

maybe this is not commonly needed but would help for my calendar.

what do you think about this feature and what are your thoughts about how to develop it?
