MSBuild integration a la <PackageReference>

Have any discussions happened on providing direct VCPKG support in vcxproj MSBuild file? I am thinking in a similar way to for NuGet packages in csproj file. Something along the lines of

    <ItemGroup>
        <VCPKReference Include="protobuf" Version="3.11.3" />
    </ItemGroup>    

with everything else happening "magically" would be my dream. I guess this presupposes some of the things in the roadmap.
