How do I open my WordPress folders on VS code to edit the files inside?

From what I see in the tutorial he opens the plugin folder in VS code and edits the files inside and the changes can be viewed simultaneously on the Wordpress site. I could only manually create plugin folder inside wp-content/plugins folder and add files in them. Then activate the plugin from the admin dashboard. How do I open it. on my VS code?
