Environment

  • Nautobot version: v1.5.15
  • nautobot-bgp-models version: 0.7.0b1

Proposed Functionality

It should be possible to select:

  1. A VM as Device in Add a new BGP Routing Instance
  2. The VM interface and IP address in Create peering

Use Case

We use VNFs for all our BGP peerings and traffic processing, physical devices are just L2 switches and servers, which don't use BGP. We cannot use the plugin without capability to assign attributes to a VM.

This is a known issue related to the nautobot/nautobot#1178 - When we designed the plugin, we assumed Nautobot's long term vision to unify device and virtual machines into a single model.
