What

Implement back-off retries for all API calls (i.e. on first failure, pause and retry, on second failure, pause longer and retry)

Why

Sometimes APIs will fail transiently and we need to account for that
This makes our system more reliable and alerts us to issues when there’s a genuine, permanent issue rather than a very brief one

It’s done when

Back-off retries on all API requests between components (Ctrl+F on “requests” probably)
- Internal Serverless API calls
