Xamarin Android / iOS app - OutputType = apk?

Hi,

Would it be possible to use MSBuildSdkExtras with Xamarin.Android app projects?

I tried converting my app from the old sdk format using xamarin.android as the TFM, but it seems to ignore all other configurations, and when trying to launch the project as an apk with the emulator (when I try to debug), the message saying the app is a DLL and not an executable is displayed:

I'm curious if there is any way or any plans to have a port for the OutputType config so that it becomes an apk and is launched by VS, as it would have if using the old csproj.

Perhaps this line is also related:
