Hey there @bagameow, the answer depends on what you want to achieve.

Do you want to have a task that spans multiple lines and includes a quote on its next line? That's currently not possible, see the readme: https://github.com/schemar/obsidian-tasks/blob/main/README.md#usage
Instead you could have the quote in a sub-list item:

- [ ] test #todo
    - > test

Do you want to have a separate quote below a list? In that case, leave an empty line in between the list and the quote:

- [ ] test #todo

> test

I'd ask to just make the second line visible, even if it won't be included in the task, please. @bagameow mentioned that when this plugin is not installed, second line is visible under a checkbox line, but after installing the plugin, the second line disappears. I have the same issue.

The second line does not have to be part of a task (e.g. don't have to show up in task queries), most important would be that it would not be hidden in the original file.

It's not that simple to do, unfortunately. For the time being, tasks cannot have multiple lines. I would need to mess around with the rendering of the LI element which I need to replace. I cannot only replace the checkbox, as I need to remove the global filter as well. But only if it appears in the task line, not if it appears anywhere else, for example in sub-list elements.

Sorry, maybe I'm not on the same page. I'm not suggesting tasks to have multiple lines, just suggesting not to remove a line below a task.

Putting a line without a leading dash directly below a list item is interpreted as part of that list item above it.

Example:

- List item 1
- List item 2
This text is on its own line. But it is still part of List item 2
- List item 3

Now if list item 2 was a task, the line below it would be part of that list item (task). That's how the markdown is interpreted.

Tasks doesn't parse any extra lines of a task except the first one. Thus, when Tasks replaces the original LI element in HTML (which includes the quote) with the LI element generated from Tasks, all lines after the first one are lost.

The correct fix would be for Tasks to parse multi-line LI elements. That's not planned any time soon, as the effort would be quite high to solve an avoidable edge case. See possible workarounds I posted above.
