Tasks newbie -- Seeking help starting out

I am new to Tasks and am trying to create a pane that shows me all unfinished tasks across all notes in my vault. In the documentation it shows that using a code block such as

```tasks
```

I created a new note called 'Tasks' with that codeblock inside it. When I preview it I see '0 tasks' so it appears to be working however when I create new tasks in other notes it never updates that pane, it just stays at 0.

Any ideas on what I might be missing? After looking through some of the questions here it looks like my codeblock should work so I'm at a loss currently.

Solved by clearing the Global task filter and turning off 'Remove global filter from description' from within the Tasks settings menu.
