We are refreshing the website for early 2025

  • Integrate https://vis.gl
  • Modernize content / organization / styling
  • Prepare for additional projects potentially joining in the future

Tasks

  • Copy https://vis.gl site and content to this site @ibgreen
  • Unify styling vis.gl vs openvis websites @ilyabo
  • Unbreak prismic CMS integration @ilyabo
  • Clean up projects page @ibgreen @ilyabo (see ideas section below)
  • Restructure site / project list to prepare for additional projects joining in the future. @ilyabo
  • Make sure all current vis.gl contents is covered here or in other sites. @ibgreen
  • Redirect vis.gl domain to vis.gl content on this site. Ben

Punch List

  • Front page / initial text block: Emphasize GPU / WebGPU (not WebGL), more clearly separate mission statements from governance collaboration space sentence. (@ibgreen )
  • Project page - List view for projects page? The card view looks good but is overwhelming, and it is hard to get a sense for all the projects and also linking out to each projects site.
  • Project page - Unique project images for projects page @ibgreen
  • Blog/News - Move OpenJS blog posts from news to blog @ibgreen
  • Summits - Use group photos as captions for each summit, instead of green backdrops
  • Unify home page and about page - both are not needed
  • Get involved - separate from home page. Add separate section about how to get involved as a user, contributor, and also mention the option to transfer an existing open source project into OpenJS?
  • **About page ** - image cuts off some attendees from the London event... Also, add a caption, maybe A mix of open visualization maintainers and users meeting in London at the 2024 open visualization summit
  • **About page ** - Contributor Section / Wrong old Foursquare logo @ilyabo
  • **About page ** - Contributor Section / Find a way to highlight the real, active contributors more

Requirements for next refresh

  • Use case based entry points / organization (geospatial, microbiology, infovis/ai/ml)
