This repository was created before the internet was taken by storm by discussions on inclusive language. Github decided to join in the cultural change by preferring the term "main" over the term "master", since the term master could implicitly refer to slavery as a cultural phenomenon. Whether it was meant to refer to slavery or not is up for debate, there are many who think that it really had nothing to do with slavery. In any case a choice was made.
So the question lies on whether this repository should follow suit, not so much to join in a "cultural change", but if anything to be generally coherent with the internet as a whole. There are still many repositories out there that haven't made the change from master to main.
And yet, though it might not be understandable by all, perhaps leaving the term
master
in this case is acceptable, for the fact that this is a Catholic repo, and for Catholics, Jesus IS their Master, which however carries with it the Jewish meaning of Teacher. The Gospel has a clear anti-slavery message, and Jesus underlines friendship with his disciples. However he doesn't abolish the word "master", which essentially means teacher. For the sole reason of the significance of this term in the Gospel, I think we could perhaps let is stay it in this kind of repo.
