Colab description

We need a description to Colab!

Colab started with a fast growing active group around 2008 and I remember it because it was around my first son was born.

Along the years, we have called Colab many things and it has had many different forms, like a network, an approach, a methodology, and lately, a framework. It has been developed and implemented both remotely online and in local communities.

All of those descriptions have been true in the moment, but now we feel it's time for an upgrade so that more people can find, use and contribute to Colab.

In the last months, we have been spending a lot of time around defining what Colab is and what it's not. You can view the process so far in here: Research: What is Colab?

So far, this is where we are at:

@riikkaeveliina It would be good if you could post here about your discovery process in that Figma board you shared. And what were the findings so far.

What's done (more or less in chronological order):

• Launched an exercise to team Komuhn to discover how each of us would describe Colab
• Collected existing Colab descriptions and make some selections over their content, like things that I felt being still relevant. Also made some questions over them.
• Wrote sentences that felt true to me, based on the things I collected from the descriptions.
• Started collecting terminology we should use.
• @uxte experimented Chat GPT as a help in building a short description while he started drafting on the website.
• Did an exercise to analyse and break in parts an existing description.

All this process is found on the Figjam board I shared.

What is missing: Extracting insights from the work I have done.

@riikkaeveliina a few things for you to consider in this last update:

1. Who is Komuhn?
2. Create a new research board specific for the description to be easier to follow developments. + link it in every update.
3. "@uxte experimented Chat GPT as a help in building a short description while he started drafting on the website." This is not exactly what I did. Also gives too much importance to ChatGPT, why not mention then all the other websites we use to write search/thesaurus/dictionary/?
